Peterson had been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes since age 10 and was admitted to the hospital, where she had previously gone to seek diabetic treatment, on April 6, 2023 due to a diabetic episode, according to the court documents.

TheMedina County Sheriff’s Officesaid in a statement that dispatchers received a call on the evening of Monday, Nov. 4 “from an individual” who was “trapped in their vehicle that had been swept off the roadway in high water.” In a later update, authorities shared that after searching the area, the young man’s body was discovered on Tuesday, Nov. 5. “The 20-year-old young man has unfortunately lost his life to this tragic event and Law Enforcement has been in contact with the family,” added police, who said they have not publicly identified the victim out of respect to his family.
