Two Alaska state troopers are facing assault charges after allegedly pulling over, Tasering and using a police dog to attack a man — when they were actually looking for his cousin.
On Thursday, Aug. 15, Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Public Safety James Cockrell announced in anews conferencethat two officers had been charged with fourth-degree assault — a misdemeanor — following the incident that took place on May 24 in the Kenai Peninsula city of Soldotna, southwest of Anchorage.

Two boaters died within days of each other in separate incidents at the Grand Canyon, becoming the seventh and eighth people to die at the national park since the end of July.
Patrick Horton, 59, was found dead on Saturday, Sept. 7, on “the 10th day of a non-commercial river trip along the Colorado River,” according to a news release from theNational Park Service.

Two Wisconsin brothers who spent nearly 25 years in prison have been exonerated, thanks to genetic genealogy.
In 2000, David Bintz, 69, and his brother, Robert Bintz, 68, both of Green Bay, were convicted of the 1987 murder of Sandra Lison.
In early August 1987, Lison, a 44-year-old mother of two, vanished from her job as a bartender at Good Times in Green Bay, theGreen Bay Press-Gazettereports.

He was found guilty in June of four counts of sexual assault on a child – pattern of abuse, per the statement, which was issued on Monday, Sep. 9.
The convictions stem from an incident on Dec. 12, 2021, when two girls, whose ages weren’t disclosed in the statement, were playing downstairs in the home of a relative, authorities said.
