D.A. 'Keeping an Open Mind' About Menendez Brothers' Push for Release

Dad 'Died of a Broken Heart' in Apparent Suicide 2 Weeks After His Daughter's Disappearance, Family Says

After days of searching for his missing daughter,Hannah Kobayashi’s father was found deadover the weekend in Los Angeles. Although a cause of death has yet to be confirmed, his family tells PEOPLE they believe he killed himself amid a mental health emergency. “He died of a broken heart,” says Larie Pidgeon, 45, his former sister-in-law and Hannah’s aunt. Ryan Kobayashi, 58, was recently retired and had joined his extended family searching for his 30-year-old daughter, who vanished earlier this month aftermissing her connecting flightat Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) andsending “alarming” textsto loved ones.

Dad Accused of Faking Death in Staged Kayak Accident Sends Video Confirming He's Alive

Ryan Borgwardt, the Wisconsin man who authorities allege faked his death in a staged kayak accident, is alive, authorities confirmed. Borgwardt sent a video to deputies from his apartment, in which he says it is “November 11” and that he was in his apartment and was “safe, secure, no problem.” Podoll says they have not yet been able to pinpoint Borgwardt’s location but that he isbelieved to be in Eastern Europe.

Dad and 2 Sons Rescued After Clinging to Capsized Boat for 5 Hours as Coast Guard Searched to Find Them

A father and his two sons were rescued after their boat capsized off the coast of Hawaii, authorities said. Officials received a mayday call from the dad at 12:10 p.m. local time on on Saturday, Oct. 26,the US Coast Guard said in a news release. The man reported that his boat had capsized, but did not give his location or any other helpful details. A helicopter and an airplane began searching for the boat and its occupants in the waters west of Maui, south of Lanai and west of Kaho’olawe.
