1 in 5 U.S. Adults Say They Feel Loneliness on a Daily Basis: Report

Photo:Getty Getty One in five adults reports feeling lonely on a daily basis, according to a new Gallup survey. Thesurvey— part of the Gallup National Health and Well-Being Index — found that 20% of adults in the United States feel loneliness “a lot of the day yesterday,” a rise from data collected earlier this year. This is the highest rate of loneliness reported in the past two years. However, the new data is still lower than the peak of 25% of adults who felt lonely during the COVID-19 pandemic from 2019 to 2021.

The person who died was not a student at the university, and their parents have since been notified, the university said in astatementon its website. “Emergency responders, along with campus and local law enforcement, have secured the scene. A tourist has died and a further two are missing after an accident at an ice cave in southern Iceland. On Sunday, Aug. 25, local police force Lögreglan á Suðurlandi confirmed a group of 25 people from several nationalities had been visiting the Breidamerkurjökull glacier when an ice cave collapsed, per aFacebookpost. “A large number of rescuers and responders have participated in the operation,” the translated post read, adding that conditions were “difficult” and the search had been postponed until Monday morning.
