A 13-year-old was allegedly backing a minivan into a man’s driveway when the teen “rapidly accelerated,” running the man over, according to New York State Police.

Trooper Jennifer Alvarez tells PEOPLE that “there is no indication of criminality in this incident” and that state police are not pursuing criminal charges in the case.
New Yorkstate lawforbids anyone under the age of 16 from driving– even if they have a permit or license from another state.
