A 17-year-old Wisconsin boy who was set to join the Army died after a tractor he was operating fell on top of him last week, authorities said.
As Landon pulled the tree, the front end of the tractor came up and the tractor went backwards while Landon was still on it, according to the reports. The tractor came down on top of the teen, causing injuries that killed him, officials said.
After a family member discovered Landon in the driveway and called 911, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office arrived and confirmed that the teen had died at the scene.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
