The cast ofThe West Wing, including Martin Sheen, Dulé Hill, Allison Janney, Richard Schiff, Janel Moloney, revisited the Jed Bartlet administration during the 2024 Emmy Awards.

“Just 25 years ago Aaron [Sorkin] and the writers actually had to use their imaginations to create interesting [storylines],” said Janney.

While Schiff noted that the current political landscape has storylines that are"utterly ridiculous,“Moloney used her time onstage to urge everyone to register to vote in the upcoming presidential election.

“Our political landscape has shifted dramatically in recent years,” said Moloney.

Hiroyuki Sanada won outstanding lead actor in a drama series at the 2024 Emmy Awards on Sept. 15, while Anna Sawai won outstanding lead actress in a drama series.

“This role of a lifetime,” Sawaisaid in her emotional acceptance speechat the Peacock Theater.

In his speech, Sanada called the series “an East-meets-West dream project with respect.”

“AndShōguntaught me that when people work together, we can make miracle,” said Sanada. “We can create a better future together. Thank you so much.”

Braff, though, was simply “waiting tables and serving the universally gracious people of Beverly Hills” while consuming 7-11 hot dogs. He “was inspired to not live like that anymore.”

Lamorne Morris Teases Daughter Lily for ‘Always’ Doubting Him as He Wins First Emmy

New Girlalum Lamorne Morris justwon an Emmyfor outstanding supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie for his work onFargo.

And while he thanked “god for allowing me to be here” and his mother for being his “biggest champion ever,” there was someone else who deserved a special shout-out: his daughter Lily.

“My beautiful daughter Lily, I told you I would do it, you always doubted me,” he teased.

Morris previously shared video of the moment he learned of his Emmy nod. In the clip, Morris cried as his daughter looked on.

Eugene and Dan Levykicked off the 2024 Emmyswith a fun opening monologue where they poked fun at Hollywood — but mostly each other.

After Dan teased that his dad tried to “convince Ryan Murphy to cast us as the Menendez brothers,” Eugene looked back on all the times he’s portrayed a father onscreen.

In an interview with PEOPLE ahead of the show, Dan said, “We’re both really hard workers and we’re determined to make it as great as it can possibly be.”

“We want to create an atmosphere that feels really welcome and celebratory,” continued theSchitt’s Creekalum. “This is a huge night in so many people’s lives and we just want to be there to kind of make it as festive as possible for everybody.”

Eugene teased that his son Dan is “a perfectionist” but the latter insisted they’ve both been passing back and forth notes.

“We’re both sending equal amounts; he just doesn’t quite know how to work his email as well as I do. So we’re dealing with a few technical issues, but that’s totally fine,” Dan said.
