A Documentary About Jessica Simpson Is in the Works: 'Real, Raw and More Personal Than Anything I Have Done Before'

Jessica Simpsonis getting ready to bring her life journey to the big screen.

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, Gunpowder & Sky announced that a documentary about the singer and actress is in production.

“I am very humbled to team up with Gunpowder & Sky and Van Toffler, who has been a longtime collaborator and supporter of mine, to make a documentary series that is entirely real, raw and more personal than anything I have done before,” Simpson, 44, said in a press release.

Per a release, the documentary will be “unlike anything she has done before” and will chronicle her long-awaited return to music in more than a decade.

The multi-part documentary “will offer an unprecedented look into Jessica’s extremely personal journey, revealing private moments, exploring the recent highs and lows of her life including personal revelations, successes, and heartbreaks that have never been shared with the public before.”

The documentary will also include interviews with people closest to her, a behind-the-scenes look at how the Jessica Simpson Collection became a billion-dollar global company, her religious upbringing, overcoming divorce, surviving abuse and more.

A release date for the documentary has not been announced.

TheEmployee of the Monthstar confirmed she was working on new music in a November 2023 cover story interview withFootwear News.

“It’s like a retreat for me. I get to just crawl up inside my head and embrace my heart,” Simpson said of creating music from Tennessee at the time. “I feel so enlightened there.”

“Writing music has become a beautiful therapeutic thing for me that I didn’t know was so natural, but it’s because I haven’t done it in so long,” she told the outlet.

Simpson’s last full-length project wasHappy Christmas, which she released in 2010. Her most recent non-holiday project was 2008’sDo You Know.
