Angelina Jolieis grateful to have her kids as her “biggest supporters.”

Just a few days after the actress, 49,dropped her legal caseagainst the Department of Justice and FBI over documents connected to the alleged2016 plane incidentinvolving exBrad Pitt, a family source tells PEOPLE that Jolie is focused on moving forward with their six children — Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.

“In the past few years, she’s been able to create a life for herself and the kids that make them all happy. It was a struggle for a while, but Angie is proud about how resilient and strong the kids are,” says the insider.

“Being stuck in the past is not anything that Angie wants. She’s actively moving beyond the past. She wants to focus on her family, work and the future,” the insider also shares. “These are all things that make her happy.”

The highly redacteddocuments Jolie had been pursuingdetailed an allegedly abusive incident with Pitt in front of the couple’s children on Sept. 14, 2016, which came days beforeJolie filed for divorce, ending a relationship that began in 2005.

They’ve since undergone a contentious legal battle over finances and custody oftheir kids, who were reportedly present for the alleged conflict on a private plane that had caused the Los Angeles Department of Child and Family Services and FBI to investigate Pitt.

A source said at the time that Pitt became “verbally abusive” and “physical” with one of their kids, which he denied. Later in 2016, the FBI closed its investigation with no charges against Pitt and DCFS also concluded its investigation, concludingno findings of abuse.
