Back-to-school season can be tough on busy parents, especially those who work in the education field themselves.
A Wilmington, North Carolina, mom named Kristine is one such parent. As amiddle schoolassistant principal, Kristine is responsible for her new students on the first day of school. Many times, that means missing out on her own son’s first day.
“I have to be at my school bright and early on the first day of school,” she explains. “I don’t get to see my son on the morning of the first day.”
This year, however, things were different. It just so happened that Kristine spotted a notification on her phone at the right time to catch her son on his way out the door.

“I heard theRing notificationon my phone. I was so excited to see him and wish him a good day,” she says.
In the video, Kristine’s son locks up as she uses the Ring camera to say hi. He looks at it and smiles, saying, “Mama!”
“Bye, love you!” she calls through the camera.
“I love you too!” he says before stepping back on their porch to give Mom a good look at his first day of school outfit.
“Have a great day!” she says, to which he cheerfully replies, “Of course I will!”

He continues to show off his outfit when Kristine says, “Let me take your picture!” The young man strikes a pose once again. “Aww you’re so cute!” the mom praises.
“I have missed my son’s first day of school for a few years,” she says. “I felt so fortunate to be able to see him.”
