After a dramatic — and unexpected — ending to season 21 ofThe Bachelorette,Jenn Tranis reflecting on ex-fiancéDevin Strader’s behavior after filming wrapped.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Jenn explains her revelations fromAfter the Final Rose, where she sat face-to-face with Devin for the first time since breaking up a month prior. She says she didn’t know how it would feel to see him, but she knew she wanted to express her feelings toward him.
“I had no idea what was going to happen, and in the moment I was just thinking about the things that were important to me,” she says. “And what was important to me was the fact that he disrespected our entire relationship after the fact."

Jenn shares that she was surprised Devin was not more upset for the way their engagement ended over a short phone call, and says that impacted her decision to watch their proposal scene together.
“I’m going to be honest, [producers] definitely walked me through everything, and I knew that I was going to have to sit there and watch it with him,” she reveals. “And honestly, in that moment I was kind of like, ‘That’ll be good for him,’ because he’s just been so dismissive of the whole relationship and everything that he said to me.”
“I’m like, ‘I don’t even know if you’re watching back what you’ve said because if you did, you would understand why I am so hurt,’” she continues. “He just had been so non-apologetic about the whole thing.”
Both Devin’s and her own reaction came as a shock to Jenn, who tells PEOPLE she was overcome with emotion once the clip began to play.
“I thought, ‘Hell yeah, I want him to watch it,’” she says. “I didn’t anticipate being as emotional as I [was]. I didn’t anticipate feeling the way that I had felt. It was an uncomfortable situation, but I wanted him to sit there and watch that. And honestly, it shows me he doesn’t give a crap based on the differences in our emotions watching that happen.”
At After the Final Rose, which aired on Sept. 3, Jenn revealed that her relationship with Devin began to go downhill almost immediately after they stopped filming. She told host Jesse Palmer that Devin shifted to a different person off-camera.
“As soon as we had left Hawai’i, things were just different,” she said. “It kind of just felt like he was pulling away all the promises that he had made to me — wanting to move somewhere together, and wanting to have this future planned out, and wanting to see each other all the time.”

“He called me, and he basically broke off the engagement,” she said. “[He said] he didn’t love me anymore, feel the same way and felt like something had been off since the second thing he proposed. He regretted getting engaged.”
Later in the episode, when Jenn confronted Devin, he claimed he did have feelings for her but they faded. “Obviously I failed you,” he said. “And there’s nothing I can say other than that. But, everything I felt for you was real.”
