Ben Affleckreceived visits from both his ex-wifeJennifer Garnerand his current wife Jennifer Lopez as he celebrated his52nd birthdayon Thursday, Aug. 15.

She and Affleck, whodivorced in 2018, share three children together:Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12. Back in May, theAirstar and theDeadpool & Wolverineactress celebrated their daughter Violet’shigh school graduation.

Lopez, who has 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husbandMarc Anthony, is eager to spend time with Affleck’s kids before the new school year begins, the source said.

“Just because she’s not with Ben doesn’t mean that she doesn’t care about his kids. She always cared about them. She spent months looking for the perfect house for their blended family last year,” the source added. “Now when she’s back in L.A. she wants to spend quality time with them before school resumes and Violet is off to college.”

Sources revealed in Maythat the couple — whomarriedin 2022 — had been living separately, after previously purchasing aBeverly Hills mansiontogether in May 2023.

Just last week,a source told PEOPLEthat the actor has spent significant time working this past summer.

“Ben’s doing well. He thrives when he’s busy and he’s been working nonstop," the source revealed on Friday, Aug. 9. “The kids are still off from school. He spends a lot of time with them, too.”

TheAcademy Awardwinner has spent the last several months filming a sequel to his 2016 action thrillerThe Accountant, which recently wrapped production, and has also been working as a producer on two projects that feature Lopez, including the sports biopicUnstoppableand the movie musicalKiss of the Spider-Woman.

The source also added that although Affleckrecently purchaseda home in Los Angeles, he is still living in the Brentwood, Calif., rental home where he was staying in May, when sources first said that he and Lopez wereliving separately.

“It hasn’t been the easiest summer for him either,” the source added on Aug. 9. “He’s just trying to stay focused and make every day as good as possible.”

Ahead of Lopez’s visit to Affleck’s rental home, a source previously told PEOPLE on Aug. 6 that the twohadn’t seen each other “in weeks.”

“They’re moving on separately,” the source added at the time. “Jennifer is trying to find a new hometo start fresh.”
