Ben Affleck Steps Out Without His Wedding Ring After Jennifer Lopez Files for Divorce

Ben Affleckhas been spotted for the first time sinceJennifer Lopez’s divorce filing.

The actor, 52, stepped out without his wedding ring as he headed to an office building in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Aug. 20, after Lopezfiled for divorcefrom him on the same day.

Affleck was photographed walking in the parking lot of the building while wearing a gray T-shirt, jeans and black-tinted sunglasses.

TheAirdirector has been spotted on several other occasions at thesame office building in recent weeksas he spent the summer apart from Lopez, 55, amid reports of the pair having split.

Lopez filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE. The actress and singer filed without an attorney, and listed a separation date of April 26, 2024.

The date of the filing was also the second anniversary of Affleck and Lopez’sGeorgia wedding celebration, held after they initiallytied the knot in Las Vegason July 17, 2022.

Affleck was spotted hours earlier landing back in L.A. with his ex-wifeJennifer Garnerafter dropping their daughterViolet, 18, off to college at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Affleck and Garner, 52, were then seen leaving the airport in a car together.

The cross-country family trip comes as a source told PEOPLE on Monday, Aug. 19, that Affleck “has been veryfocused on getting Violet ready for move-in” amid his marital strain with Lopez.

Another source told PEOPLE on Tuesday that Lopez’s decision to divorce Affleck has left her “disappointed and sad," though she feels“it’s time to move on.”

“Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage,” the latter insider said. “He hasn’t shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work. It’s gotten to the point that she just needs to look out for herself.”

Affleck and Lopezrekindled their romance in April 2021and wentInstagram official in Julyof the same year. They were previouslyengagedin 2002, before theycalled off their weddingand split in 2004.

After getting back together, the couple made several public appearances, including at theVenice Film Festivalin September 2021, theGolden Globesthis past January and theL.A. premiere of Lopez’sThis Is Me … Now: A Love Storyin February.
