Boy, 5, Who Wandered Away from Family at Campsite and Got Lost Overnight Is Found Alive: 'Beyond Relieved'

A 5-year-old boy has been found after going missing overnight at a California campsite, officials said.

The boy was reported missing after wandering off while his family was preparing dinner at the Mammoth Pool Reservoir Campground shortly before 7 p.m. local time on Saturday, Aug. 3, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office said in aFacebook post.

“Thank you so much to all involved, we are beyond relieved,” Brett wrote in response to the happy update.

“I can’t say enough good about the response we experienced from The Madera County Sheriffs Department," Kellen Rogers, the boy’s uncle, added. “That have my most heartfelt thanks.”
