A 7-year-old boy is recovering from serious injuries after a car crashed into his family’s home in Hawaii.

Ralph Hilton, Taurean’s father, told the station that a neighbor had “pulled into our driveway to pick up our other neighbor,” whom they share a driveway with, when the incident occurred.

Hilo policesaid that it appeared the man was “about to leave the residence” on Kaumana Drive when “he unintentionally drove his vehicle toward the residence, striking the child and crashing through the residence.”

Police said that due to the child’s “substantial injuries,” he was transported to the hospital.

Police, who did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for additional information, said they arrested the driver for negligent injury on the day of the crash.

The online fundraiser aims to help the family “pay for any medical, travel, and additional expenses they are currently experiencing.”

Added the organizer, “We ask for prayers and healing for the beautiful Ohana at this time. Mahalo.”
