Familial wedding drama forced a bride to turn to Reddit for a “quick vent.”

In aposton the platform’s “Wedding Drama” forum, the bride shared how drama between herself, her mother and her sisters has put a damper on her big day.

The bride explained in her post that she asked her three sisters to be her bridesmaids. Two out of the three turned down the position, with one not liking the bridesmaid dress she picked out for her and the other simply being “a moody teen.” Although this is “fine” for the bride, her mother insists the sisters be more involved in the wedding.

But instead of the mother requesting that the sisters reconsider being bridesmaids, she is “demanding” that the bride figure out something else enjoyable for them to do.

“Now my mom is demanding I find another role for them in the wedding,” the bride wrote.

She continued: “I don’t really have any say since my parents are paying for the wedding, but I already offered them a role so I don’t know why I need to keep trying to accommodate them.”

“‘That sounds great, Mom, you can be in charge of finding them a role they will like.’ That should keep all three busy and out of your hair,” one person suggested.

Other commenters listed alternative wedding roles for the sisters, such as serving as greeters or being in charge of the guest book. But most people were more annoyed that the bride has to deal with this at all.

“You have a say. It’s YOUR wedding. I say good riddance to the temperamental twosome,” someone wrote.

Another person chimed in: “You can’t force them to be part of your wedding if they don’t want to. But if your parents are being this controlling, maybe elope or wait until you and your partner can afford to pay for the wedding you want and this way take all control away from your parents.”
