Catherine O’HaraandBo Welchare having a full-circle moment at theVenice Film Festival.
After first meeting on the set of the originalBeetlejuicefilm in 1987 — her as an actress, him as a production designer — the couple walked the red carpet at the premiere of its long-awaited sequel,Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
Welch, 72, looked dapper in a classic black suit, and O’Hara rocked a unique black column gown featuring long sleeves, black floral detailing and a gothic, wire-like neckline.
Wearing her blonde locks in a straight style over her shoulders, the actress, 70, finished the look with a black clutch and coordinating platform peep-toe heels.
O’Hara and Welch married on April 25, 1992. They welcomed their first son,Matthew, in 1994, and their second, Luke, in 1997.

But before that, even though Welch “talked to” O’Hara “all the time” during theBeetlejuiceshoot in Los Angeles and the two of them would “hang out on set” and “have some laughs,” he never made a move on his own, she told PEOPLE in January.
“I thought, ‘He’s going to ask me out. Oh, he’s going to ask me.’ And stupid me, I should have asked him out, but I didn’t,” theHome Aloneactress recalled at the time.
They went on to shoot the exteriors of the iconicBeetlejuicehouse in Vermont, and that was the day that Welch asked O’Hara out, which was admittedly her favorite part of filming the movie.

And directorTim Burtonhad a little something to do with it, after O’Hara confided in him that it felt as if Welch was holding out on her.
“Tim said, “Let me see what I can do,' " she told PEOPLE. “So one of the first days shooting in Vermont … Bo came up to me that day and said, ‘Our department’s going to a swap meet. You want to come?’ "

“We’ve been throughsome dangerous timesin our marriage, and thank God we both just really wanted to work on it and stay married,” O’Hara said. “I have friends who’ve been divorced and one of them really wanted to work on it and the other didn’t. And you just can’t win. You can’t do anything that way. But thank God we both wanted to, when we went through rough times.”
“And laughing. Respecting each other and talking, but laughing comes from that too,” she added.“People always say communicate, right? Tell them how you’re feeling.”
