Channing Tatumsays he spent the day in the bathroom after swallowing pool water during a party in Mexico.
The actor andhis fiancée,Zoé Kravitzshared the story withBuzzfeedwhile promoting their psychological thrillerBlink Twice, which filmed in Mexico.The film is Kravitz’s directorial debut — and hasbeen favorably comparedto the hitGet Out.
“Remember we had that party, Chan, and you and [costar]Simon [Rex] were both wrestling in the pool, and then you guys swallowed pool water,” said Kravitz, 35. “But we are in Mexico. And you were puking.”
“For 12 hours,” said Tatum, 44, with a vacant expression on his face. “I couldn’t leave the bathroom.”
“The doctor had to come and give me a shot in the butt to make it all okay,” he added.
“It was a sick party,” Kravitz quipped with a laugh.
As one commenter noted, it may have been a case of Montzuma’s Revenge, which theUniversity of Indianadescribes as “Traveler’s diarrhea (dysentery, Montezuma’s revenge).”

It’s “usually a self-limiting episode of diarrhea that results from eating food or water that is contaminated with bacteria or viruses."

And as the travel guideFodor’spoints out, when in Mexico, “remember not to drink tap water or ice that’s made from it. Mexicans themselves don’t consume tap water: it is thetop per-capita consumerof bottled water (8 in 10 Mexicans drink from bottles.)”
And if you “have more than four loose stools a day or severe symptoms, including a fever or blood, pus or mucus in your stools, a doctor may prescribe a course of antibiotics,” notes theMayo Clinic.
