Channing Tatum Was ‘Not About’ Ghost Hunting in His Haunted Hotel, Told Daughter, 11, ‘You Go Up There’

Channing Tatumdoesn’t share his daughter Everly’s enthusiasm for the paranormal.

TheBlink Twicestar opened up about a recent trip to Salem, Mass. with his 11 year old, during an appearance onLate Night with Seth Meyersthis week.

The actor, 44, explained that Everly, whom he shares with ex-wifeJenna Dewan, is “obsessed” with witches.

“She’s been wanting to go to Salem maybe for the last seven years of her life,” he said of the Massachusetts town known for its infamous witch trials. “And we get there, and I’m like ‘Maybe this will be one of those moments where she’s like ‘Oh, it’s not what I thought.’ You know?”

“It’s like the idea of going to Egypt, and thinking that there’s just mummies walking around all the time,” he continued. “And I was like, ‘Maybe she will just be, like, kind of less mesmerized.’”

But that wasn’t the case.

Guests of the hotel have reported moving furniture, sightings of a female figure on the sixth floor and mysterious noises, according toHistoric Hotels of America.It was also featured on an episode ofGhost Huntersand it was determined that room 325 was the most haunted.

“They were like, ‘Don’t go to the third floor or the sixth floor,’” Channing recalled the hotel staff warning them. The actor was more than happy to heed their advice. “I was like, ‘Not gonna do that, like, at all," he said.

“My daughter was just like, ‘Let’s just go up there a little bit. Like, let’s just go up and walk up the stairs and, like, look for a second and then run back down,'” he said.

“No,” Tatum told hostSeth Meyers, shaking his head emphatically. “I’m not about it.”

“I’m like ‘You go up there,’” he recalled telling Everly.

Despite the father-daughter duo’s disagreement on ghost-hunting, the vacation was a success.

“She loved it so much,” Tatum said of Salem, where the 1692Salem Witch Trialstook place. “The whole town, they really lean into the history of it.”

According toBoston.com, Tatum, Everly, her nanny, Tatum’s sister and family friends spent three days in the New England town.

Beth Crowley, the owner ofWitch City Walking Tours, told the outlet that Everly is “very interested in Halloween” and witchcraft. The company created a custom tour for the family with that in mind.

“I want to stress that this entire tour was crafted and curated for his daughter,” Crowley said. “Which I think is amazing. It shows character. He was just amazing with his daughter, like holding her hand, hugging her, joking with her. It was just the coolest thing to see.”

While sightseeing, the group visited Gallows Hill Theatre, the Witch Dungeon Museum, the Peabody Essex Museum and the Rebecca Nurse Homestead and Samuel Parris archaeological site in Danvers.

Crowley added that although people recognized Tatum during the family’s Salem adventure, he was “so gracious and so down to earth.”
