Gambit fans, rejoice — more ofChanning Tatum’s card-wielding superhero is upon us.

Ryan Reynoldsshared a closer look at Tatum’s cameo inDeadpool & Wolverineon Instagram Aug. 27, showing the Louisiana-nativeX-MenmutantGambit/Remy LeBeauseemingly having survived that epic battle scene.

While the character’s fate remains unclear inDeadpool & Wolverinefollowing the action-packed sequence, the newly released scene shows him walking triumphantly among the carnage around him before looking up into the sky and smiling.

Tatum, 44, previously spent more than 10 years trying to bring Gambit to the screen. Now, thanks toDeadpool & Wolverine, that dream finally came to fruition.

“Gambit is a guy Chanwas born to play,” Reynolds wrote on Instagram Aug. 5, alongsidea slideshow of photosfeaturing Tatum working onDeadpool & Wolverine. “His story is similar to my road on Deadpool — in that Chan spent a decade trying to put the most comic-accurate version of Gambit on the big screen.”

“I want more — and from what I saw in theaters, you do too,” Reynolds added, before going on to praise Tatum’s work ethic. In the end, Reynolds said he “couldn’t be more thrilled” to see Tatum finally bring the card-throwing hero to life.

Tatum had been linked to Gambit since at least 2006, when he was considered to play the beloved ‘90s character inX-Men: The Last Stand.

The role was ultimately written out of the movie andTaylor Kitschwas cast as Gambit forX-Men Origins: Wolverine(2009), which also marked the first time Reynolds played Deadpool.

Tatum recently thanked Reynolds in anemotional Instagram postfor helping him bring Gambit to life with hiscameo inDeadpool & Wolverine.

“I thought I had lost Gambit forever,” he wrote. “But he fought for me and Gambit. I will owe him probably forever. Cause I’m not sure how I could ever do something that would be equal to what this has meant to me. I love ya buddy.”
