After buying her cigarettes, theHeaven Can Waitactor ended up inviting the “I’ve Got You Babe” hitmaker to his place to get something to eat. While Cher initially hesitated before accepting the invitation because of her curfew, she ultimately obliged.
They went to Beatty’s home, in the Trousdale Estates neighborhood in Beverly Hills, where theMermaidsstar received a tour and enjoyed some cheese and crackers, and he “then leaned in and kissed me,” she writes in the book, adding that she “kissed him back.”
Afterward, Cher borrowed Natalie Wood’s bathing suit to go swimming with theBugsyactor and ended up staying out until 4 a.m.
When she got home, her parents were furious Cher had defied her curfew again.
“You will not go out again until you’re twenty-one!” her mother Georgia Holt told her.
The next day, Beatty called and asked Cher to go to dinner and then swimming, but she turned him down because she was in trouble.
That all changed when he asked to speak to Cher’s mother, who “melted” when she learned who was on the other line.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were with Warren Beatty?” she asked Cher, who would go on to become friends with Beatty through her one-time boyfriend David Geffen.
Reps for Beatty did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
