Chris Hemsworth Reveals Moment He Knew 'Adventurous' Wife Elsa Pataky Was the One on Their First Date

Chris Hemsworthknew right away thatElsa Patakywas up for an adventure.

The Australian actor, 41,appearedonTheDrew Barrymore Show, where he reflected on being married to Pataky, 48, since 2010 and the moment he knew they’d hit it off.

“We had the same dialect coach who said, ‘You guys should meet,’ ” Hemsworth recalled. “I did what you do, which is Google someone. Saw her photo, and I said, ‘Yep! I’ll have her phone number. She’s pretty.’ And then we went out on a date and the rest is history.”

But it was how the Spanish model-actress showed up to their first date that “set the stage for most of our relationship,” continued Hemsworth. “She turned up on a motorcycle … and I thought, ‘Oh cool, she’s adventurous.’ ”

“You want to have similar interests,” he said. “It’s interesting and fun to be from completely different walks of life and then there’s different things to talk about and different dynamics. But having the same interests and the same enthusiasm for the outdoors and sports and so on just keeps it interesting.”

At their Australian home, the Hemsworth family also includes a veritable menagerie, as revealed in glimpses onThe Drew Barrymore Show. Their animals include “snakes, lizards, horses, donkeys, cats, chickens, dogs, birds, all sorts of things,” said theThorstar.

“Every time I go away, I come back and there’s a new animal,” he joked. “I try to act like I have some kind of authority when I’m home. I say, ‘No, that’s enough animals.’ I leave and of course come back and it’s like Dr. Dolittle.”

The “amazing” Pataky is responsible for keeping it all together, he added. “She holds down the fort well when I’m away and wrangles our three kids and all the animals.”
