Christian Slater Says He's a 'Lot More Present' as a Dad at This Stage in His Life: 'I Love It' (Exclusive)

Christian Slateris loving life with his kiddos.

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at theBlink Twicepremiere on Thursday, Aug. 8, the actor, 54, opened up about being a father at this stage in his life.

“Wow. I mean, it’s just different,” he tells PEOPLE. “The whole thing is different. I’m certainly a lot more present and I just love it.”

“I think I was more scared of it the first go around and a little bit more confused, and I was very distracted," he admits. “And now, it’s all I really think about, and all I really care about, and all I want to be around. I’m happy to be in that situation.”

TheUnfrostedstar, who plays the role of Vic inBlink Twice,went on to speak about his 5-year-old, whose name has not been made public.

“She’s just cute. My daughter’s 5 and she’s a real passionate, excited person,” Slater tells PEOPLE. “I mean, she skateboards, she ice skates, she climbs rock walls, she does aerobics, she plays tennis and she’s 5. We can’t stop her.”

He adds, “She just has a real zest and passion for life that’s very infectious and makes me very excited.”

Slater previously spoke to PEOPLE at the final season premiere ofMr. Robot inOctober 2019 afterwelcoming his daughter withLopez.

“It’s cleaning those bottles — there’s so many pieces to break down with that stuff, it’s a milestone to get through it,” he told PEOPLE at the time.

“An official milestone is that she’s actually starting to really acknowledge us and smile, which is a big deal,” he said. “Before, it would just be this involuntary thing. Now, she sees and smiles, and that’s a beautiful milestone.”
