Tamer Howard of Corcoran, who currently holds thelisting, tells theNew York Timesthat the couple is seeking a bigger property that can better accommodate their family of five and host their extended family when they come to visit.

Despite the real estate change, theHomelandactress andHannibalalum do not plan to leave New York City, Howard adds.

BKSK Architects founding partner Joan Krevlin – who helped bring Danes' vision for the home to life through an extensive renovation – tells the outlet that the interior reflects the actress' love of “loft living” as she grew up in New York City lofts. Thus, the property offers an endless amount of natural light and an open floor layout.

With four bedrooms and four full bathrooms, the 3,890-square-foot townhouse also boasts three lush outdoor spaces. The property was built in the 1880s and offers views of the surrounding gardens.

Of the historic property, Howard says, “It’s been incredibly well modernized, while still preserving its original West Village charm. It’s a really happy, romantic, special place.”

Upon entering the charming abode, a mudroom, coat closet and powder room immediately greet residents on the first level, as well as a home office that can be concealed with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors.

The living room, which leads directly into the dining area and kitchen, boasts a cozy fireplace and 11-foot ceilings.

The fourth level is home to the entire primary bedroom suite equipped with skylights and custom-built closets. In the bathroom, a steam shower, soaking tub and additional fireplace can be found.
