Crown Princess Mette-Marit's Son Allegedly Threatened to Set Woman's Clothes on Fire After Attack: Reports

One week after Marius, Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s 27-year-old son from before her marriage toCrown Prince Haakon, wasarrested and releasedafter a “violent incident” involving a woman at an apartment in Oslo, according to apolice statement, it has been alleged that he threatened to set her clothes on fire after the attack.

“Two anonymous sources told the Norwegian magazineSe og Horthat police were in possession of an audio tape of the crown prince’s stepson telling the victim he would set fire to her clothes if she did not do what he wanted,“The Timesreported on Aug. 12.

The next day,Se og Horpublished photos claiming to be taken from inside the apartment where the attack happened, including a knife sticking out of a wall and a light fixture shattered on the floor. (Outlets like theDaily Mailand theDaily Telegraphhave also reported on the allegations.)

Se og Hørpreviously reported that Marius was arrested and detained for 30 hours on Aug. 4 after being accused that he had “attacked” a woman at an apartment in Oslo. The woman was reportedly hospitalized for a concussion, according to the outlet.

Two days later, Crown Prince Haakon, 51, brieflyspoke about his stepson’s arrestfor the first time.

“It is a serious matter when the police are involved in the way they are, but at the same time, it is not right for me to go into the details of the case,” the heir to the throne told reporters, according to theDaily Express.

Crown Prince Haakon was in Paris for theSummer Olympicsand added that Crown Princess Mette-Marit, 50, stayed home despite previous plans to join him in France.

“In our family, as in all families, it is sometimes important to be there. This time it was me who went while she stayed at home,” Crown Prince Haakon explained, according to the outlet.
