Darius Rucker Jokes as He Accidentally Faceplants Onstage: 'I'm Old as F---'

Darius Ruckerfound a way to laugh at himself — even when he took a tumble at a hometown headline show.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, Rucker performed withHootie & the Blowfishfor the annualRiverfront Revival, which he also curates. The homecoming show took place in Charleston, South Carolina after the band’s 43-city tour that ran from May to September, closing out 2024 on a high note.

Infan-captured footage, the 58-year-old frontman launched into the first verse of his appropriately named 2009 solo hit “Alright” when he appeared to trip on an onstage monitor and fall face-forward. “I’m old as f—,” Rucker admitted with a chuckle to the audience.

But the giggles got the best of him and Rucker took a moment to laugh as touring keyboard player Lee Turner jokingly points to where he tripped. After the song, Rucker took a moment to address the situation, saying, “We’ve been doing this all summer. I hadn’t fell once. But I busted my ass in my hometown.”

Last month, Rucker wassentenced to 11 months and 29 days of probationafter pleading no contest to one count of simple possession of a controlled substance stemming from a traffic stop in February 2023, according toWKRN. Upon completion, the musician’s record will be expunged,Penn Livereported.

Hehad been arrestedFebruary 2024 on two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance and one count of violation of Tennessee’s vehicle registration law, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE at the time.
