As the sneak peek of the latest chapter of the horror-comedy anthology series kicks off, Schwimmer, 57, plays divorced dad Anthony — who is hosting his twin children, Cece and Devin, at his Gravesend, Brooklyn, home for the summer — ominously tells the kids his one house rule.

“I want you to have a really fun and also safe summer out here,” Schwimmer’s character says. “I only have one rule: stay out of the basement.”

In the next clip, Cece (Jayden Bartels)and Devin are talking with some neighborhood kids when they learn that their uncle was one of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in Gravesend three decades ago, setting them on a quest to uncover answers.

“A threat is stirring, and they quickly realize that dark secrets are among them, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery,” reads an official synopsis for the show, based on R.L. Stine’s popular books.

“As they delve into the unknown, Cece, Devin and their friends — Alex, CJ and Frankie — find themselves entangled in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994,” the synopsis continues.

In the trailer, Anthony receives a package from the police returning the clothes his brother was wearing when he went missing, prompting him to do some investigating of his own. A scene shows Anthony analyzing material found on the clothes under a microscope and discovering something startling — that soon turns utterly terrifying.

Meanwhile, as the twins and their friends delve deeper into the mystery of the teens' 1994 disappearance, a series of eerie events leaves them feeling unnerved. “Things have been happening that are not normal,” Devin says as their bathroom sink is shown overflowing with a dark red gelatinous substance.

At one point, the twins even begin to suspect that their own dad might be behind the strange occurrences.

“Dad’s behind all the crazy stuff happening,” says Cece, prompting her brother to reply, “We don’t know for sure that he is.”

A stealth trip into the forbidden basement only heightens their suspicions that Anthony is hiding something unsettling. And when Trey suddenly goes missing, it seems the past is repeating itself.
