The lateDMXseemingly has a track in the vault with Denzel Curry – but the latter has no idea when or if it will ever release.
“DMX was a fan of my music before he died,” Curry tells PEOPLE in conversation about his recent album,King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2. “And his manager reached out just months before he died, and they sent the song.”
Despite lamenting that “the beat was whack,” Curry maintains, “But it is DMX. So I ended up doing a song and I sent it back to ‘em. They loved it. And then boom, DMX dies.”

As for the future of that track, which Denzel didn’t specifically note the title of, he says, “It’s in limbo. [DMX’s team] have it.”
When questioned if the reasoning behind keeping the track unreleased was due to clearance issues, Curry maintains, “No, I just did my verse. The song was already done. DMX did his part, I did my part and I sent it back to him.”
