Ewan McGregor Says It 'Means the World' to Have His Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Close to Carrie Fisher's (Exclusive)

The Scottish actor, 53, received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6840 Hollywood Boulevard — and it sits just feet from fellowStar WarsiconCarrie Fisher’s own star.

“That means the world to me. I was so lucky to get to know Carrie,” McGregor tells PEOPLE of the star’s placement after the ceremony. TheMoulin Rougeactor recalled that he met Fisher, whodied in 2016at age 60, at a party in Malibu, Calif., revealing he was “so in love with her as a boy” watching her in the space opera series.

“I sat down with her on this beach and I felt like we just clicked and she made me laugh, she really made me laugh, and then we did a few things here in Hollywood,” he recalls. “We cohosted some fundraisers at her house… Anyway, we were cohosts and she just made me weep with laughter and she was incredibly funny. I miss her a lot, I always forget that she’s not with us. So anyway, the fact that we’re close together is really lovely.”

Fisher had her star on the Walk of Famecommemorated posthumouslyin a May 4, 2023 ceremony. The stars belonging to otherStar Warsactors like Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill are also located on the 6800 block of Hollywood Boulevard. Fisher’s daughterBillie Lourdaccepted the honor on her behalf at the time.

Before McGregor took the stage, his otherStar Warscostar Christensen, 43, spoke to McGregor’s charms from the very first day they met. He recalled that McGregor gave him “just the most disarmingly warm embrace” when they were first introduced.

“He’s telling me how excited he is to be working together and how much fun we’re going to have doing our lightsaber training, and he’s just beyond kind to me,” Christensen said. “And it was immediately apparent to me that I was meeting someone truly special, and not just as an actor, but as a person, and that I was meeting a friend. A friend who would later go on to chop off both my legs and leave me for dead on the side of a volcano, but I guess I kind of had that coming.”
