Fleetwood Mac Documentary in the Works from Apple TV+ and Director Frank Marshall

Apple Originals Films announced a forthcoming, definitive documentary on rock band Fleetwood Mac, directed by Academy Award nominee Frank Marshall.

Fleetwood Macwill have their story told in an upcoming documentary.

Marshall, along with his wife Kathleen Kennedy, received the Irving G. Thalberg Award ahead of the 2019 Oscars. In recent years, he has turned to directing music documentaries, including the Grammy-winningJazz Fest: A New Orleans Storyand the Emmy-nominatedThe Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart. His most recent film is Disney+‘sThe Beach Boys.

“We are thrilled to continue our creative partnership with Frank and the talented team at Kennedy/Marshall," producer Nicholas Ferrall said Tuesday.

It will be the first time the Grammy Award-winning Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees will give an account of their career in their own words. The band’s most famous lineup featured Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie (who died in November 2022), Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, Jeremy Spencer and Bob Welch were also members at different points in the band’s history.

Fleetwood Mac wins the Album of the year award at the 20th Grammy awards

The documentary will take a look at the band’s “uncompromising 50-plus-year history, from their record-breaking recordings and tours — including never-before-seen footage, exclusive new interviews, and archival interviews of the late Christine McVie — through to today,” the release adds.

Fans can expect to experience an emotional ride as they learn new facts about the group, which has “sold more than 220 million records worldwide.”

Fleetwood Mac shared a message of their own on Tuesday.

“It’s not a Rumour,” the caption to theirInstagram announcementbegan, with a nod to the group’s 1977 studio album,Rumours.

“From director Frank Marshall, this Apple Original Films documentary will take you on the epic journey of the generation-defining Fleetwood Mac,” the post, which included three photos of the group, concluded.

A title and release date have not been announced at this time.
