Guy Fieri Moves Son Ryder Into His College Dorm

Guy Fieriis officially an empty nester.

In an Aug. 26Instagrampost, the celebrity chef posted about movinghis youngest son Ryderinto San Diego State University, where he will be part of the hospitality program.

The post includes a selfie of Guy, 56,his wife Lori, andRyder, 18. There is also a clip of Guy playfully embarrassing his son as he announces “we’re going to chronicle the entire thing,” referring to move-in day.

In another video,Ryderenters his dorm for the first time, taking in the space as boxes are moved in.

He also shared a time-lapse video of the trio unpacking and setting up the dorm, which Ryder shares with a roommate named Hunter (the same name as his older brother, who is 29 and engaged toTara Bernstein).

Guy reflected on the milestone moment in an emotional Instagram caption.

“It was a wild weekend moving@_ryderfieriinto the dorms at@sandiegostateuniversity!!” he wrote. “It hasn’t fully hit us yet, but not seeing him everyday is gonna be hard. He’s got a cool roommate (named Hunter, omg 😂)”

He added that San Diego State University is “supportive” of their students and that Ryder is “fired up” about his upcoming time there. “So proud of you Ryder,” he concluded the sweet post. “Good luck!!”

Guy spoke to PEOPLE in May aboutRyder being accepted to his top choice for college. “He had to do it on his own merit. He had to go down, he had to do the walk-throughs at the school,” he said, adding that Ryder is “super excited.”

When Ryder graduated high school,Guy gushed about his accomplishmentsonInstagram.

“Wow what a great high school career!! 3.7 GPA, basketball for 4 years and lacrosse senior year,” he wrote in June, adding, “Love you son!”
