Gwyneth Paltrow’s latest look has me inInspector Gadgetmode.

Why? I’ve worn my full-length trench coat more times than I can count, but sometimes the length gets in the way. I’ve been on a mission to find my very own cropped trench, a lighter alternative to the full-length trenchesJennifer Lopez,Nicole Kidman, andJennifer Lawrencehave worn in previous seasons.

For example, the water-resistant Lucky Brand style pictured above falls around the hips, while thisSteve Madden pickis cropped closer to the belly button — all that really matters is that it’snota floor-length version. Since I’m not solving any real-life crimes over here, there are no getaway cars in sight. Now, cargo pants? Those are a must-get. The useful pockets match the utilitarian function of a trench plus, I’ve worn my plain trousers into oblivion. These cargo pants from Nordstrom come in sizes 00 to 16 and look similar to regular trousers without exterior pockets but somehow also way more trendy.

In order to go all out, I’ll need a pair of chunky sneakers. And lucky for you, (not so much for me since I actually have no more space for another pair of shoes) these are ultra affordable and under $50. “Best sneakers I have ever owned,”wrote one shopper, adding, “I’m serious.”
