Hailee Steinfeldis opening up about her relationship.

As Steinfeld recounted, it all started when the couple bought each other the same gifts for Christmas.

“I got this knife for Josh last year for Christmas because cooking is something we love to do together,” she wrote, per the outlet. “For Christmas he got me…the same one in a different colorway!”

“After we exchanged our knives lol, he told me there’s an old wive’s tale that if you gift your significant other a knife you have to pay for it, otherwise it signifies the severing of a relationship,” she continued. “So we exchanged quarters so we didn’t have that bad omen.”

The “Most Girls” artist added, “Anyway, oh my God, I love this knife! I don’t know much about a chef’s knife but it is just so nice and makes me feel official.”

Steinfeld and Allen were firstspotted spending time togetherin New York City in May 2023.

They then madetheir first public appearancetogether in October 2023 at the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres' season-opener against the New York Rangers.

The couple were thenphotographed together in Laguna Niguel, Californiain January.

A source close to the duo told PEOPLE in February that the pair were in a"serious relationship.”

“They always planned to spend more time together after his season ended. Things have been going really well,” the source said. “They’re both very family-oriented and driven, and they want to protect their relationship and keep it private. They’ve been on the same page with all of that.”
