Halseyfaces off with themself in their latest visual.
On Friday, Sept. 6, the pop star, 29, shared the latest single from her forthcoming albumThe Great Impersonator, “Ego,” alongside its accompanyingmusic video.

Last month, Halseyannounced their fifth studio LPThe Great Impersonatorwas on its way.
They shared aneras-spanning trailerrevealing the project would be a “confessional concept album.”

In the teaser, Halsey confessed, “I really thought this album would be the last one I ever made.”
The visual featured the “You Should Be Sad” artist in retro clothing and hairstyles, imagining who they might have been during previous time periods.
“What if I debuted in the early 2000s? The ’90s? The ’80s? The ’70s?” Halsey asked in a voiceover. “Am I still Halsey every time? In every timeline, do I still get sick? Do I become a mom?”
In the trailer, Halsey mirrors artists likeAnnie Lennox,David BowieandBritney Spears— the latter of whom theyinterpolated in their recent single"Lucky."
The visual also featured snippets of unreleased songs from the three-time Grammy nominee capturing the aesthetic of different decades of music.
“If it all ended right now, is this a person you’d be proud to leave behind? Is it even you?” Halsey concluded.

Ahead ofThe Great Impersonator, the “Sorry” hitmaker has released tracks including"Lonely Is the Muse"and"The End."
Halsey’s new album is due Oct. 25 via Columbia Records.
