Henry Winkler Shares the Rules His 6 Grandkids Must Follow When They Visit: 'There Are Only a Few' (Exclusive)

“It is different, completely different than being a parent, " the dad of three tells PEOPLE, “but it is filled with the same emotion.”

He adds, “We now have six and three-quarters grandchildren. Every one of them is different. You have to approach each one completely differently.”

While each of his grandkids differs from each other, Winkler’s household rules have remained steady.

“Now the rules in the house, and there are a few, only a few, are the same,” he tells PEOPLE. “When the youngest granddaughter is sleeping, there is no fighting, there is no yelling. They are in charge of their friends to keep it down. "

Last but not least, Winkler says, “No matter what age they are, from 14 to 7, they have to clear their dish.”

Winkler has been married to his wife Stacey since 1978. The couple share children Max, 38, and Zoe Emily, 42, along with his stepson, Jed Weitzman, 51, from Stacey’s previous marriage to lawyer Howard Weitzman.

In June 2023, Winkler appeared onThe Jennifer Hudson Show, revealing that he loves to dance with his grandkids onTikTok.

“I’m only on TikTok with my grandkids,” the actor toldJennifer Hudson. “My oldest granddaughter, India, said ‘Papa, you have to make a TikTok.'”

“So I think I’ve made 7 or 8, but only, mostly, with them,” he confirmed, later sharing that he “loves dancing” after growing up seeing the folk ballet andWest Side Story.

Winkler also shared with PEOPLE he recently completed the next adventure for his children’sDetective Duckseries -which even Queen Camilla loves!
