Shannon’s latest post following theRootsactor’s death comes after his longtime publicist Belinda Foster said in a statement to PEOPLE, “At the time of his death, John was concerned that Shannon might turn his death and interment into a circus as she had done with other aspects of his life.”
“It was John who requested the delay in announcing his death to Shannon and the rest of the world,” Foster said.

Foster’s statement came after John’s “collective family and close friends,” including Shannon and his goddaughter Amy Goudy, issued astatementon Facebook regarding the circumstances of the actor’s death, as they expressed suspicion that he “was likely cremated to avoid any potential investigation into the conditions surrounding his final days.”
The family also expressed concern that John “may have been neglected and isolated during his final days,” as they accused K.C., Foster and Eugene Brummet of having “isolated the actor from his loved ones despite their repeated attempts to make contact.”
Foster shut down those claims as she said, “Shannon’s claims that John was abused are false. K.C., Eugene and I, along with numerous others cared for him. On several occasions when Shannon claimed that he was abused, law enforcement authorities sat with John and confirmed his well being.”

“It is [K.C.’s] sibling, that is my daughter, my first child. I love her. K.C. loves his sister. We just have, I guess, what might be best described in the tabloids is an acrimonious relationship, but everything heals in time, and the love is still there,” John said in December 2023.
