Kate MiddletonandPrince Williamrefreshed their presence on social media after the Princess of Wales shared that shecompleted chemotherapy.

As of Sept. 10, the Prince and Princess of Wales' joint official accounts onInstagramandXwere updated with a new profile photo for the first time in a while. The new image across both platforms is a still from thepersonal video messagethat Princess Kate, 42, released on both sites to announce that she has finished chemotherapy treatment, which began in late February.

The three-minute montage was an unprecedented glimpse into the Wales' family’s private life, and the couple also switched their cover photo on X to a still from the video showing them as a family of five.

The video message was a major update from Princess Kate, in which she described it as a “relief” to “have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment” and acknowledged that “the last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family.”

“Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown. The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,” the Princess of Wales said in part, seemingly referring to her loved ones.

“With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything,” she said.

William and Kate don’t frequently update their profile photos on social media, but sometimes switch their cover picture on X for news around their work, such as the Prince of Wales' Earthshot Prize. The couple are known to strike amore solemn toneon social media in November for Remembrance Day, a Commonwealth holiday honoring those who died in war, but usually change the photos back to what they had been after about a week.

For years, Prince William and Princess Kate’s profile photo has been alaughing candidfrom a trip to Ireland in 2020.

They’re not the only royals to swap out their social media photos now and then —King CharlesandQueen Camillado the same. The King and Queen have had Chris Jackson’siconic shotof them looking out from the balcony of Buckingham Palace in the coronation regalia on their May 2023 coronation day as their profile picture on X and Instagram for over a year.

Duringa day outin Wales on Sept. 10, Prince William offered rare comment on his wife’s health following her announcement.

“It’s good news, but there is still a long way to go,” the Prince of Wales said at a walkabout,Hello!reported.
