Kendrick Lamar Announced as Performer for 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Kendrick Lamaris returning to theSuper Bowlstage!

On Sunday, Sept. 7, the Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper, 37, announced that he will be performing at the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime show on Feb. 9, 2025.

In the clip, the 17-time Grammy champ can be seen on a football field, standing in front of an American flag as he shoots footballs out of an automatic passing machine.

“My name’s Kendrick Lamar and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl LIX,” the MC announces in the clip. “Will you be pulling up? I hope so. You know it’s only one opportunity to win a championship. No round twos.”

“I won’t want you to miss it. Meet me in New Orleans. Feb. 9, 2025,” Lamar adds. “Wear your best dress, too, even if you watch it from home.”

The clip concludes with the date of the Super Bowl and the Apple Music logo.

Lamar was previously tapped as a halftime performer in 2022, when he joinedMary J. Blige,Snoop Dogg, Eminem and50 CentforDr. Dre’s star-studded performancefor Super Bowl LVI.

JAY-Z, whose Roc Nation company works with the NFL to select the halftime show performer, added: “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision.”

He continued, “He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”

Lamar’s performance in February comes on the heels of a major 2024. While he has not put out an album since 2022’sMr. Morale & the Big Steppers, he scored No. 1 singles on theBillboardHot 100 this year with both “Like That” (withFutureand Metro Boomin) and his summer smash “Not Like Us.”

The star was also recently involved in ahigh-profile feudwithDrake, which spanned multiple months this year as both rappers delivered back-and-forth diss tracks.

Lamar’s most recent performance took place on June 19 at the Kia Forum, when the MC tapped West Coast artists includingTyler, the Creator,Roddy Ricch,Ty Dolla $ign,YGand more for a special Juneteenth show.

Super Bowl LIX will air on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025.
