Liam Payne Had Multiple Drugs, Including 'Pink Cocaine,' in Body at Time of Death: Report

Liam Paynehad several drugs in his body, including “pink cocaine,” at the time ofhis death on Oct. 16 at age 31.

Sources confirmed toABC Newsthat a partial autopsy revealed theOne Directionalum “had multiple substances in his system” when he fell from the third-floor balcony of his hotel room at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

According to ABC’s reporting, one of the substances found in Payne’s body was “pink cocaine,” a recreational drug that generally includes a combination of methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA — and not necessarily cocaine — per theNational Capital Poison Center.

The sources also told ABC News that “an improvised aluminum pipe” used to ingest drugs was found in Payne’s hotel room.

According to the report, the British singer’s body will remain in Argentina until the autopsy is finished.

Ahead of Payne’s death, the hotel’s chief receptionist called 911 after becoming worried about Payne’s behavior, per local outletsLa NacionandClarin, as well asSky News.

According to a translatedLa Naciontranscript of the call, which was made at 5:01 p.m. local time, shortly before Payne’s death around 10 minutes later, the employee said the “Sunshine” musician was intoxicated and presumed he was “under the influence of alcohol and drugs.” They insisted that someone needed to come “urgently” to the location.

The person on the other end of the line confirmed that SAME (Buenos Aires' public emergency medical services system) was on its way, according to the publication. During the call, Payne’s name was not mentioned.

Sky News reported the hotel employee said the guest’s life might be “in danger” because he was “in a room with a balcony.”

The BBC transcript stated that the worker said that Payne had been"trashing the entire room"before his death.

According to apreliminary autopsy report,the “Teardrops” performer died from multiple injuries and “internal and external” hemorrhages, the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE.
