Liam Payne's Former School Says Community Is 'Deeply Saddened' Over Death: 'His Contributions Will Be Remembered'

Liam Payne’s former secondary school is paying tribute to the singer following his death.

In aFacebook postshared on their official page Thursday, Oct. 17, St Peter’s Collegiate Academy said that the school’s community is “deeply saddened to learn of the suddenpassing of our former student, Liam Payne.”

The Wolverhampton, England-based school also included a Bible verse: “Above everything, love one another earnestly. — 1 Peter 4:8.”

Payne waspronounced deadafter falling multiple stories at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Wednesday, Oct. 16.

An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the formerOne Directionmember’s sudden death, local police told PEOPLE.

In a statement to multiple outlets including theBBCandPA Media, Payne’s family addressed their loss,saying they are “heartbroken"and adding, “Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.”

“We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time,” they continued, per the BBC.

“I speak to Liam quite often, he’s a good friend of mine. And, wow, I’m shocked, this is obviouslythe first I’m hearing of it,” Middleton, 44, said on Australia’s Channel 7 morning showSunrise.

TheSAS: Who Dares Winsstar had nothing but kind words to share about the late singer, insisting, “He had a lovely aura around him, he was a lovely guy, he had positive energy around him. He was a visionary, he always thought and dreamed big and that’s why he got to where he was.”

Middleton later shared atribute to Payne on Instagramalongside photos of the pair, calling the singer a “talented positive man with a good heart” in his caption.

“I’m glad our friendship flourished and that I was someone you could confine in. Your turn to look over me now bro!” he added. “Luv ya and will miss you sorely … My sincere condolences to@liampaynefamily during these unimaginable times 🙏🏼💙#restinpeacebrother.”
