In apost shared on X(formerly known as Twitter), the NYPD said the man was “reported to have grabbed and thrown a young Pit Bull from a 14th-floor balcony in Brooklyn, leading to the dog’s tragic death.”
The NYPD said they would ensure the man “faced justice for their heinous act.”
According to local media outletsWPIXandNews 12 Brooklyn, Alberto Morris, 33, allegedly threw the dog from the balcony at an apartment building in Crown Heights on Nov. 1.
WPIX reported the NYPD as stating that the dog belonged to Morris’ friend. Per News 12 Brooklyn, police said Morris got into a dispute with one of the residents at the building, and during the argument, threw the resident’s dog from the balcony.
Brooklyn resident Morris was arrested and charged following the incident, per News 12 Brooklyn.

Morris pled not guilty at his arraignment earlier this week, per WPIX. He was released without bail.
He is now on supervised release, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, per News 12 Brooklyn.
