Martha Stewart Says She Hands Out ‘a Little Cash' to Trick-or-Treaters on Halloween

Martha Stewartis extra generous when it comes to the treats she hands out on Halloween!The lifestyle entrepreneur, 83, revealed she offers an “assortment of candies” and “a little cash” to trick-or-treaters during a conversation withVogueon Friday, Oct. 18.“I live on a farm now, so the gate is always decorated, and the security guard has to open the gate for children who are trick-or-treating” she said. “I usually give children an assortment of candies–quite a few candies in—in a bag and a little cash too.”Stewart did not define how much “a little cash” is.Despite her house being the place to be on Halloween, she admits she’s “never home” on the holiday so she doesn’t see how many trick-or-treaters she actually gets.“I try to be out and about,” Stewart notes.Martha Stewart posing with a pumpkin and Halloween decor in 2018.Brian Ach/GettyAs for her favorite Halloween memories, Stewart says D.I.Y. (do it yourself) crafts and school parades first come to mind.“We used to make box lanterns out of a cardboard box–you cut a jack-o’-lantern, and on the sides, paste orange and black tissue paper over the holes, and you would put a candle in it, a real candle,” she told the outlet.“You would walk it in the Halloween parade to school, where we would all congregate down the playing fields, and in the middle of the playing field, we threw our beautiful pumpkin boxes, I want to call them, down into the pool.”Stewart also revealed her number one tip for throwing an amazing Halloween party: “Don’t be insipid. A little jack lantern on the table—that’s not much of a Halloween gesture. As for her favorite Halloween memories, Stewart says D.I.Y. (do it yourself) crafts and school parades first come to mind.
