Melania Trump’s new memoir reportedly mentions that she and her husband, former PresidentDonald Trump, exchange letters withKing Charles.
On Oct. 8, the former first lady of the United States published her memoir,Melania, whichThe New York Timessaid includes a mention of “an ongoing correspondence with King Charles III.”
“As we bid farewell to Her Majesty, we extended a cordial invitation for her return visit to the United States,” Melania wrote, according toVanity Fair. “She expressed her gratitude with a warm smile. Sadly, Her Majesty wasn’t able to visit with us again before her death in 2022, but our friendship with the Royal Family continues, and we exchange letters with King Charles to this day.”

In July, it emerged that the King, 75, sent a letter to Trump, 78, after he was shot in anassassination attemptat a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The former president is currently seeking a second term on the Republican ticket and is running against Vice PresidentKamala Harrisin the 2024 presidential election.
Though Buckingham Palace doesn’t comment on the sovereign’s private correspondence,The Independentsaid that Melania wrote in her eponymous memoir about how she first met the future King in 2005 and reconnected with him at the state visit during her husband’s presidency.
“The evening’s state banquet was a formal and elegant affair. I was seated next to Prince Charles, and it was an absolute pleasure to reconnect with him,” the former first lady wrote inMelania, according toThe Independent.

“Our paths had crossed many years ago in New York City. This time we engaged in an interesting conversation about his deep-rooted commitment to environmental conservation,” she wrote, according to the outlet.

“A few weeks after President Trump’s visit, for instance, she confided in one lunch guest that she found him ‘very rude’: she particularly disliked the way he couldn’t stop looking over her shoulder, as though in search of others more interesting,” Brown wrote inA Voyage Around the Queen, according to an excerpt in theDaily Mailon Aug. 19.

Trump fired back at the allegations in Brown’s book, which was published in the U.S. on Oct. 1, and told theDaily Mailin a video published on Aug. 22 that he was Queen Elizabeth’s “favorite president.”
“We spent hours together at a state dinner. She was a fantastic woman…I heard I was her favorite president, and you’ve heard that too. She would say it to a lot of people,” he told the outlet.
