Michael McKean and His Wife of 25 Years Annette O'Toole Enjoy Date Night atThe DiplomatSeason 2 Premiere

Michael McKeanhit the town with wifeAnnette O’Toolefor the premiere ofThe Diplomatseason 2.

The 77-year-old actor — who plays President William Rayburn on the hit Netflix series — stepped out with his wife of 25 years for the season 2 premiere at The Plaza in New York City on Oct. 28.

TheBetter Call Saulalum and theVirgin Riverstar, 72, arrived hand-in-hand at the event. The actor wore a black suit and rust tie and O’Toole wore a coordinated look — a pantsuit with a cream blouse.

The couple first met in the 1970s and later reconnected on the set of the 1998 Lifetime movieFinal Justice.

The actress recalled toTheaterManiain 2018 that she realized that she wanted a future with McKean during their first date at a benefit concert whereBob Dylan,Joni Mitchelland Van Morrison played. “I would have married him that day,” O’Toole said with tears in her eyes.

“As a gag, I told her, ‘And they said it wouldn’t last,’ but nobody said that,” McKean added. “They were like, ‘Of course, duh.’ "

The pair went on to tie the knot in March 1999.

Since getting married, they have continued to work together on screen. McKean guest starred onSmallville, in which O’Toole played Clark Kent’s mother. They’ve also played Topanga’s parents onBoy Meets World.

O’Toole and McKean have also collaborated on music. In 2004, one of the pair’s songs was included on a Disney album calledWorld of Happiness. The duo was even nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song at the 2004 Academy Awards for their song “A Kiss At the End of the Rainbow” from the movieA Mighty Wind.

When not working, the couple read to each other every night — even when they are in different locations.
