Model Waiting for Uber to Attend Her Daughter's Birthday Party Is Fatally Shot

An Instagram model in Costa Rica was fatally shot as she was making her way to her eldest daughter’s birthday party over the weekend, per local news outlets.

Yuliana Castillo Sánchez, 29, was shot as she was waiting on a street in Granadilla, a district in the San José province of Costa Rica on Saturday, Sept. 28, local outletsLa Nación,CRHoyandLa Tejareported, citing police, preliminary reports and the victim’s mother’s testimony.

Castiollo, who has more than 13,000 followers on Instagram, was mother to an eight-year-old girl and four-year-old boy, per La Teja and CRHoy.

At the time of the shooting, she was reportedly about to get into an Uber to head to her daughter’s birthday party, the victim’s mother Yesenia Sánchez said, per CRHoy.

La Nación, CRHoy and La Teja report, citing preliminary reports and the Judicial Investigation Agency, that Sánchez reportedly had an argument with two men on a motorcycle when one of the men on the bike allegedly shot her and fled the scene.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, per the outlets.

Yuliana is now being remembered as a loving mother devoted to her children.

“As a mother, she was unconditional. Everything she did and did was to give her children a better future and not depend on anyone, so that no one would judge her and she could get ahead on her own and give the best to her children,” a relative, who is not named, told La Teja, translated from Spanish.

“I believe that is what she did, she gave them the best of herself,” the relative said.
