The mother of a 2-month-old girl has died in Maryland two days after she was injured in a tragic incident involving a golf cart, police said.
On Saturday, Nov. 9, at approximately 7:24 p.m. local time, Anne Arundel County Police Department officers were called to an address in Annapolis to help assist an injured person, according to anews release.
“A preliminary investigation revealed that Mary Blasetti had sustained life-threatening injuries in an incident involving an E-Z-GO golf cart,” police said.
They added that Blasetti was “airlifted to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center” before dying from her injuries on Monday, Nov. 11.
Police identified Blasetti, 32, of Annapolis as the passenger in the cart but didn’t name the driver of the vehicle, who was listed as a 32-year-old female from Crownsville.
“It appears at a certain point they hit some sort of a dip, and at that point, that passenger was ejected from that golf cart or thrown from the golf cart,” the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Justin Mulcahy said of the incident, according toCBS station WJZ.
“This is an extremely tragic, unfortunate situation,” Mulcahy continued. “Our hearts go out to everyone impacted and we’re going to continue investigating it with the State’s Attorney’s Office just to determine what exactly happened here.”
