Nikki Reed Says She 'Can't Imagine' a Return to Acting Anytime Soon, 'But There's No Door Closed' (Exclusive)

Nikki Reedis not saying “no” to returning to acting, but she does not know when that may happen.

As Reed, 36, appeared on the red carpet ahead of the 34th annual Environmental Media Association’s awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday, Oct. 26, she told PEOPLE she does not “make any definitive statements about anything” when asked about returning to her acting career.

“I don’t look at anything. I’m just very, very busy. I work over 90 hours a week,” Reed, who is the CEO and co-founder of sustainable jewelry brandBayou with Loveand also runs a supplement company calledThe Absorption Company, says.

“Right now, I’m running a company full-time and just launched another, a shared company with the absorption company,” she adds. “And I just can’t imagine being able to pivot my energy away, but there’s no door closed.”

Reed, who has been married to actorIan Somerhaldersince 2015, last appeared in an onscreen role in the 2019 Netflix seriesV-Wars, which also costarred Somerhalder, 45. She is best known for her roles in 2003’sThirteenand for playing Rosalie Hale, a vampire and adoptive sister of Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen, in theTwilightmovies.

Reed and Somerhalder share two children, including daughterBodhi, 7, and a son, whom theywelcomedin June 2023. Somerhalder also stepped away from acting over the last five years, telling PEOPLE in September that he moved into producing and environmental work along with parenting instead.
