Prince William’s Earthshot Prize seeks to recognize groundbreaking ideas and innovations to heal the planet, awarding leaders, entrepreneurs and businesses in five key categories: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World and Fix Our Climate. Each winner receives $1.3 million, providing them with the support needed to scale their ideas.

The lineup includes acts from across the continent of Africa as well as Grammy-nominated artist and producer Davido and artist Diamond Platnumz. South African composer and producer Lebo M, with the Ndlovu Youth Choir and DJ and producer Uncle Waffles are also among the artists slated to perform.

Porter’s co-host Bonang Matheba added, “I am excited to celebrate these incredible innovators who are making a significant impact on our planet, as well as highlight the vibrant spirit, resilience and unwavering commitment of environmental leaders across Africa and from around the world.”
William, 42, is traveling solo to Cape Town, as wifePrincess Kateis still not fully returned to public work since she wasdiagnosed with cancerearlier this year. In September, she announced she hadfinished her chemotherapy, but added, “My path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”
The Princess of Wales, 42, said she would take part in “a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can” and has made a couple of surprise appearances alongside William, including a visit to Southport, England on Oct. 10.
She hopes to attend the Remembrance Day service in London on Nov. 10, which takes place just days after William returns from Africa.
