An Ohio man is dead following an encounter with police after he abducted his 7-year-old non-custodial daughter from a relative’s house, authorities said.
On Monday, Nov. 11, at about 3 p.m., Charles Alexander, 43, took the girl from a relative’s house in Empire following an argument and a physical altercation, theAssociated Pressreports.
An Amber Alert was immediately issued, asking the public to be on the lookout for a Ford F-650 U-Haul truck with Arizona plates after Alexander took the girl without permission,WOIOreports.
At about 8 p.m. that night in Brunswick, police tried to stop Alexander, who led authorities on a chase involving multiple departments, the Medina County Sheriff’s Office said, according to the AP.

The sheriff’s statement didn’t say whether Alexander was armed or what led officers to open fire, the AP reports.
The girl was found safe in Medina and returned to her relatives, the sheriff’s office said.
