Leilani Simon, a Georgia mother who claimed she was “hoping” police would find her 20-month-old son “happy and alive” when he went missing in October 2022, was convicted of his murder on Friday, Oct. 25.
Simon, 22, was found guilty of all 19 charges against her in connection with her 20-month-old sonQuinton Simon’s death more than two years ago, localWJCL,WTOCandWRDWreported.
Quinton was first reported missing in early October 2022 when his mother called 911 to tell police the boy had vanished from his playpen at the family’s Georgia home.

The superintendent of a Maryland school district has responded to an incident involvingan alleged hanging at an elementary schoolthat left a 7-year-old boy injured, saying that what happened appeared not to be “race-related.”
According to the boy’s mother in a social media post and a subsequent interview withWUSA News 9, the incident occurred on Friday, Nov. 15, at her son’s school, which was later identified as C. Paul Barnhart Elementary School in Charles County.

A single mother who was diagnosed with terminal cancer has died after raising money for her own funeral and her children’s future. She was 30 years old.Erika Diarte-Carr,mother to son Jeremiah, 7, and daughter Aaliyah, 5, died on Saturday, Oct. 12, her cousin, Angelique Rivera, announced in a Facebookpost.“It is with a heavy heart that this is the final update i will be giving for my cousin Erika. She has joined her mother Sylvia, her Brother JJ, her uncles Chava & Loui on the other side,” Rivera wrote on Saturday.
